
A semi-truck and four vehicles were involved in an accident on the 405 Freeway southbound at the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) Wednesday afternoon causing heavy traffic backup, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department and California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 1:09 p.m. on the 405 just north of Venice Boulevard, according to CHP Officer Jennifer Cassidy. A SigAlert was issued at 1:21 p.m.
Cassidy said the accident involved a semi-truck that collided with the right shoulder wall of the 405 Freeway southbound and four other vehicles became involved.
LAFD spokesman Erik Scott said no one was trapped and no extrication was required. At least one person was sent to a local hospital in unknown condition. Scott said one LAFD engine is on the scene, as well as California Highway Patrol.
At 3 p.m., Cassidy said there were no further injuries reported and the accident is under investigation.
