
1.* Award-winning author Jane Brox will speak about her book "Five Thousand Days Like This One: An American Family History," *a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in nonfiction, at today's Books and Bites program at 11 a.m. in the Assembly Room of the Belmont Public Library.
The Washington Post said of the book: "A mature, levelheaded book, thick with emotion but not overwhelmed by it ... reading it is a genuine pleasure."
Jane Brox has also written three other books, including "Here and Now," which won the L.L. Winship/PEN New England award. She has received the New England Book Award for nonfiction and her essays have appeared in many anthologies.
Books will be available for sale and signing. Refreshments will be provided.
2. *Registration for Watertown/Belmont Pop Warner *opens tonight at the 6 p.m. in the Wenner Field House at Belmont High School. The program is open for all boys and girls interested in playing youth football or cheerleading.
